So what is the problem??
The problem is in one of the layers of the motherboard that can interfere the work of SATA II controller. Intel grants that the problem can not be solved by software update and all of the motherboards must be replaced.
But there is one more problem.
Intel said that new updated motherboards will be available in the end of march but the mass availability will be achieved in APRIL! In March or April (i don't know precisely!) AMD will release Bulldozer CPUs so new architecture! It might be similar situation to the first delayed Fermi GPU from nvidia and Radeon 5xxx series from AMD when nvidia because of the delay(not only because of the delay) lost their position of leader (or at least Intel will be the leader still but they will lose a lot of money!)
But Intel played very nicely! They said that they will replace all motherboards!
Analysts predict that Intel will loose 300 million dollars and another 700 million dollars on the motherboard replacement!!! Another bad effect is on the big companies like apple they have to delay their new computers based on sandy bridge cpus!!!Bad start of the 2011 for Intel! This will be an interesting year!
UPDATE!
I've read another news about the Intel's problems seems like the costs will be higher now they predict that it can be 800 millions-1 milliard dollars and it can rise up!
