GTX 670 Single and 2-way/3-way SLi Review

Again a bit too late but well finally I've had time to refresh what's been missed. The GTX 670 is a very nice GPU. Reference pcb is amazingly short as for a card that performs that well but the cooler is bigger than the pcb since heat sink covers a lot of space on the GPU so there were no place to put the fan ant it sticks out behind the pcb. In case of performance it is close to GTX 680 and very very close to 7970.  Yet it is very god in SLi too. 2-way sli has amazing scaling but 3-way sli is not so good right now. Maybe there is some kind of bottleneck or the drivers are immature.  We'll see. The 7970 is better in power management since GTX 670 is not very power efficient at idle so that is the drawback of the new GTX 670. But anyway it is a very good GPU. It forced AMD to drop the prices of their gpu's significantly  so we should see some interesting offers.

A bit to late I know but well the GTX 690 is out for a few days from now. What to expect? Underclocked GTX 680 x2. Two cards in one package. The performance was not suprising for me (It was easy to predict the performance). What although surprised me a lot is the look of the new GTX.  I thought Radeon 5870 and then 7970 were amazing but this one is way better.  Well See it for yourself.

GTX 680 3-Way SLi

Guru3D posted an GTX 680 in 3-Way SLi mode. And here I am disappointed. The performance increase compared to normal SLi is almost none. Only in synthetic benchmarks we can see a lot of difference but we are not using benchmarks every day right? So what is the conclusion? Right now this configuration has no sense. Or the drivers are immature or we have some kind of bottleneck. I hope that they will fix it as soon as possible.

GTX 680 SLi Review

So guru 3D posted an SLi review of GTX 680. They scale very well in SLi mode beating just everything else on their way. But due to inmature drivers yet there have been some problems like for example SLi of 680's was 1 FPS faster than SLi of 580's. But most of the games worked correctly. The performance is sometimes doubled and I think that we will see some amazing videos in the future with this card on youtube.

GeForce GTX 680 Premiere & reviews

I have to say as I was very disappointed with the GTX 480 (high temps, high noise, high power consumption) and GTX 580 (which was only unlocked GTX 480 and also hot, noisy and power hungry) now nvidia retakes it's good name with this gpu. Number of changes is impressive.
It is power efficient, low temperatures as for a card this powerful, boost technology and now you need only one gpu to run 4 displays so also a good change there and many more in the GPU itself of course! Shall we see the numbers please? OK!

Stream (Shader) Processors: 1536
Core Clock (MHz): 1006
Shader Clock (MHz): 1006
Boost Clock: 1058
Memory Clock (effective MHz): 6000
Memory amount: 2048 MB
Memory Interface: 256-bit
Memory Type: GDDR5
Display outputs: Display port, Dual-link DVI, HDMI

Interesting fact is the memory clock and interface as well as the big amount of shaders.
Well the memory interface might be surprising only 256-bit (GTX 580 had 386-Bit) but the clock is very hi at 6GHz! Also the we have 1536 stream processing units that is 3x more than GTX 580! But the architecture is different this time so thats why we have so much of those stream units. I think that you will find more details if you are interested why do this card has so much stream units in the article.

Overall we have a new king! Will the 7970 will be a good competitor? I think yes if the price will be lower but well see for yourself at Guru3D.com

Radeon 7870 and 7850

AMD showed very nice GPU's the 7870 and 7850. The 7870 is on the level of 580 with amazingly affordable price! It is cool, consumes low amounts of energy and it works on 1GHz! The 7850 is a bit slower competing with GTX 570 and it does it very well sometimes it is on the GTX 580 level too! Well just look at the article on guru3D and see for yourself!

So Windows 8 Consumer Preview is LIVE! and if you want do download it just follow those links here! I am very interested how it looks and works so I will definitely check it out.

Just remember that it is just a preview so it is not a good idea to use it as your primary system. Just install it on other partition so later it will be easy to delete the system when you're done with testing.

Radeon 7770 and 7750 Single and Crossfire Review [UPDATE]

New line of products from AMD is out. 7770 and 7750 are interesting propositions but I have mixed feelings about them. Sometimes the performance of 7770 is equal to 6850 and sometimes the 7770 it is slower but it clearly beats 550 Ti which is in the same price range. 7750 is nice budget card but I think for the price of it should be cheaper a bit so it would be better chose because the performance is not so amazing overall. Well we have to wait for the mid-range gpu's from the 78xx series to see some real mid range performance.

You can find the review here: http://www.guru3d.com/article/amd-radeon-hd-7750-and-7770-review/

[UPDATE] Crossfire 7770

Check also this review : http://www.pcper.com/reviews/Graphics-Cards/AMD-Radeon-HD-7770-and-7750-Cape-Verde-GPU-Review/CrossFire-Testing

[It is worth to read everything in this article but if you want to skip to crossfire performance just go to the drop menu at the bottom of the page and choose Crossfire Performance]

They have tested 7770 in crossfire. I think the performance is very good. It is very close in CF to 6970 but is is worth the price? I think no but see for yourself

Live Gamer HD. Fraps is DEAD?

Live Gamer HD is a capture card for gamers. In theory you can record Image from your GPU without loosing performance. It is able of capturing a Full HD video at 30 FPS with H.264 . Manufacturer declares that the recording process is not using a lot of CPU power because the compressing of the video takes place on the card and also thanks to that compression the disk bandwidth usage is much lower. Pretty interesting huh? Also as a bonus we can do a live stream to TwitchTV so somebody can watch out live gameplay. Also they include a button witch allows you to start the recording and few dongles like DVI-HDMI & HDMI-DVI. It is all good but the price is not so beautiful. The price tag is 160 dollars. So you have to pay extra for this nice piece of hardware for all of you youtube folks.

Radeon HD 7950 Crossfire review 2 and 3-way

Guru 3D posted a Radeon HD 7950 Crossfire review 2 and 3-way.

Even as a single card the 7950 is sweet. It is not much slower than 7970 but still you have to pay a lot of money for It. Even though If you are in the market for a well priced performance card this is definitely for you. And if you can afford few of those cards? Even better the performance is amazing. See for yourself.
