nvidia GTX 590 single and SLI Reviev = total FAIL? This card can BURST INTO FLAMES!

So yesterday the GTX 590 had it's premiere and the performance is not very impressive compared to Radeon 6990. In most cases the Radeon 6990 is much faster especially in very hi resolutions like 2560x1600.
Second it takes more power than 6990 both idle and Stress.
but it is quiet and the temps are nice.
I was surprised that even in Quad SLI the the 590 is slower than Quad Crossfire 6990
And third yes the clocks are low compared to GTX 580 so the leak is confirmed
ALSO ANOTHER BIG THING!
This card has some technical difficulties that can cause a permanent damage!
PC websites are reporting that when it is overclocked it can be damaged or sometimes it can be damaged even when the card is ruining on stock speed!
I have to tell you that I am surprised! The nVidia was almost always faster than radeon and now something is wrong

Ok now let's look at the specs:

GPU: 2x NVIDIA GF110
GPU: 607 MHz
2x 512 CUDA cores
CUDA cores frequency: 1215 MHz
RAM: 3 GB (2x 1,5GB) GDDR5 with 2x 384-bit memory interface
RAM Frequency: 3414 MHz
DirectX 11, OpenGL 4.1, CUDA, PhysX, Quad-SLI support
Video output: 3x DVI, 1x mDP (mini DisplayPort)

Galaxy GeForce 550 Ti KFA2

Soon nVidia will announce GeForce 550 Ti we don't know the price yet but we know some specs:

192 CUDA cores
GPU: 1 GHz (stock frequency is 900 MHz)
CUDA frequency: 2 GHz (stock frequency is 1,8 GHz)
1 GB RAM GDDR5
192-bit RAM interface
RAM frequency: 4,6 GHz
3+1 power section
video output: DVI, HDMI, DisplayPort
dual slot cooler

We don't know the reference design yet but galaxy has showed his own cooler look.

nVidia GeForce 590 dismounted (leaked slide from nVidia presentation)

The slides ate telling everything. It looks pretty interesting! As you can see at the first slide the PCB has 12 layers! 10 phase GPU power supply is yet another impressive feature. Convenient thing is that you can remove the top panel so the cleaning should be a snap! It is critical to clean such a card because it generates a lot of heat.
From my experience the cleaning of a GPU is a terrible thing even with compressed air. My radeon 5870 is very "closed"(mostly because of the backplate that covers the gab between the cooler and the PCB) at the back i have small vent through which i can blow some air and also i can blow some air through fan and a also through small vents at the end on the side of the card and thats it and I am sure that a lot of dust stays there.
So Bravo nVidia!

I am assuming this card will be loud, very hot, and very powerful.

P.S: I've reed an article where Fudzilla said that they have seen the card and it works at much lower clock than GTX 580 so the unconfirmed specs looks like this

GPU: 600 mhz (772 for GTX 580)
2x 512 cuda cores (1024 total)
RAM: 2x 1.5 GDDR5 (3GB total) 384 bit interface
RAM frequency: 3400 MHz (4008 MHz for GTX 580)
TDP: 375W (227W for GTX 580)
And they say it is quiet but we'll see if all of that will be confirmed again it is not official GTX 590 specs!
I want to see the battle between 2x 6990 and 2x 590. This few months will be great for the fans of the computers! For now look at the review of the 2x 6990 on Guru3D

100 YEARS OF IBM!

Congratulations IBM! 100 years of innovating computers. That is a lot of time ant it is very impressive. Great work and keep it up! I just can't wait to see what kind of direction computers will go! It is so impressive that the computers have usage in such a big amount of tasks.
3D graphics, 2D graphics (like photoshop), medicine, cloud computing, countless things to count.
Watch the video about this special number for IMB! It is very nice and interesting!

Radeon 6990 in CrossfireX Review

Today on Guru 3D we can read a review of Radeon 6990 in CrossfireX. As I Expected the scaling is good in newer games like Battlefield Bad Company 2, Metro 2033, Dirt 2 and also in benchmarks like 3DMark Vantage or 11. The games like COD MW2 witch do not have very gpu demanding graphic engine are scaling even downwards (: (but I think the problem is in CPU bottleneck)One thing worth to notice is that kind of setup is not made for low resolutions, it has the power to handle 3 or more monitors in a game with hi details or to run extremely gpu demanding games on hi details easily! Especially in games like a Metro 2033 that have very advanced graphic engine and amazing graphic in game we can see a huge gap between single 6990 and 6990 Crossfire.

P.S About scaling note that not all games are using the full potential of 4/6(Remember if you want to use Hyper threating o Intel cpu's the game must be written as for a 8 core cpu for example) cores of the cpu.
Some of the games are still using 2 cores so in this games scaling can be terrible. As not always it is the hardware problem but it can be software problem. Also some games like STALKER Clear sky or Call of Prypiat they are mostly written on GPU so the CPU is not used so much so there scaling can be great

I think that the 3/4 way SLI/crossfire still needs to be optimized. Yes they have a lot of power but and it works but i think that it can work better (Also the CPU bottleneck can be a big problem even if you have hi end CPU)

Ok enough of my EDU (: My feelings about this setup are that the power is amazing and it looks nice in case (: But if you want to run it you have to have extremely good airflow. The temperatures were about 90 C so that is very hot. Also it was a bit loud but that's to be expected by a quad gpu config like this. If you have money sure buy it because it can deliver amazing performance but bank for the buck and including performance increase it is not worth the money.

P.S: And the power consumption is ridiculous (:

Radeon 6990 Review and Unboxing

So there you go the Radeon 6990 for now the fastest single card on planet.

The review can be found here: http://www.guru3d.com/article/radeon-hd-6990-review/3

Let's look at some specs of the card:

Stream processors: 2x 1536 (3072 in total)
GPU Clocks: 830 mhz/ 880 mhz (The 6990 by factory comes with bios switch and by stock you get 830 mhz setting and after switching the bios the clock rises to 880 mhz!! Good work AMD!)
Computing power: 5039 gigaflops!!!!!!!!!
Memory clock: 5 ghz
RAM: 2x 2gb GDDR5 on 256 bit bus
Memory bandwidth: 149 GB/s

It is impressive as for a Dual GPU card that the clocks are so hi. From what I've reed it is loud and hot and it takes a lot of power but well nobody is surprised about that. This things are touching every dual gpu card or SLI, Crossfire config
Here you have an unboxing:

Battlefield 3 Premiere Gameplay Trailer

Again a bit late but better late than never right (: ?

CryEngine 3 & Frostbite 2.0 tech demos

Amazing tech demo of Cryengine 3 that will be used in the Crysis 2!!! I think in 2011 we will have interesting battle. Battlefield 3 already on trailers looks amazing and as the DICE says it will run only on 64 bit systems and (i don't know if it is official) DX11 ONLY! (I know I missed the Frostbite tech demo but now it is a good time to show both demos)

Radeon 6990 on MSI booth on CeBIT 2011

There it is the AMD Radeon 6990 dual GPU card. MSI showed it publicly on CeBIT 2011. At the moment clocks are not set to the default setting AMD is still working on official specification. But this example was working with clocks of:

GPU:830 MHz
RAM: 2 gb per gpu GDDR5 on 5 GHz on 256 bit interface (In total of 4 GB! Remember the video ram in crossfire or SLI do not add up. This card has two gpu's inside of it working in crossfire! It is like 2x 6970 in one card more or less)
1536 Stream processors
2x 8-Pin power connections

Looks nice! I am very interested how powerful is it!
